The bloom of shared time.

Every month, I have the privilege of volunteering at a senior house in Osaka through Hands On Tokyo. These visits have become a special one in my life here. Through this experience, I learned a lot about how to build connections with limited language, to focus on genuine cares, gentle smiles, and sharing experiences that focus on the moment in front of us.

This month, I wanted to bring something extra special โ€” a postcard designed by me, featuring two flowers I photographed at the Kyoto Botanical Garden. I visited this garden with my Mother during the spring season. I think nature has a quiet way of speaking to the heart (a bit old school), and I hope these floral postcards bring a little peace and brightness to the wonderful elders Iโ€™ve come to know.

For the messages, I chose two Japanese quotes that express the soft strength and beauty of flowers:

๐ŸŒธ ่Šฑใฎใ‚ˆใ†ใซใ€้™ใ‹ใซๅ„ชใ—ใๅ’ฒใๅฟƒใ‚’ๅคงๅˆ‡ใซใ€‚
Cherish a heart that blooms quietly and gently, like a flower.

Just by blooming, a flower brightens someoneโ€™s heart.

These words reflect how even small gestures โ€” like a smile, a gentle greeting, or a flower in bloom, they don't need to be loud to be powerful.

If you're ever in Osaka and looking for a meaningful way to give back, I truly recommend joining Hands On Tokyoโ€™s activities. Sometimes, the simplest things โ€” like a flower or a postcard or even like meeting the seniors here โ€” can blossom into lasting warmth...

I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know everyone.
